I thought you'd never ask...
There are plenty of great books out there on branding, but I want to focus on a select 3 which really helped me to understand not only what branding is, but why it matters and how to use it effectively.
So without further ado, let's get started.
P.s The last one is my personal favorite.
No matter where you are in the world, you'll recognise the legendary Nike swoosh.
A brand started by Phil Knight and his track and field coach Bill Bowerman over 60 years ago, Shoe Dog takes you on a journey through the early days of building the now iconic brand,
This book has so many key lessons. Not only about the importance of brand building, but also relating to the pains and challenges that comes hand in hand with building a great company.
The book takes you through Phil's experiences and allows you to see the development ofd Nike from his eyes and mind.
A great read and it can also be picked up as an audiobook too.
Brand positioning is a topic which would result in many business owners to scrunch their faces, given it isn't a subject many truly understand.
In Positioning: The Battle for Your Mind, you're taken on a journey through the process of developing an effective positioning strategy for your brand to help you stand out effectively in your market.
The book cuts out the fluff and focuses instead on using relatable examples to educate the reader and drive points home.
Considering many entrepreneurs in the world today don't even understand what the word positioning truly means, this is a sure fire way to gain an advantage in the world of business.
No matter which market you're competing within.
You can pick up a paperback copy for next to nothing.
This book is by far my favorite.
Mostly because I didn't know what to expect before reading it. I'd just heard great things.
The book takes an unconventional approach to explaining branding.
Giving a range of examples, but the charming book goes as deep as you'd like to go in regards to what actually makes brand grow, how they appeal to our senses and how they stick in our memory.
I thought I understood branding before reading this book. The truth is, this book took my knowledge base up a good few notches.
I'd read this book at least once a year, just to refresh my memory as there's just so many golden nuggets (literally a few every page).
If you're interested in understanding how to build a successful brand, start here. And understand the power of brand better than pretty much every business owner out there at the moment trying to wing it.
Pick up a copy if you're ready for a wild unconventional ride through the world of branding.
