Saving time in 3 weird ways

This article may not be directly related to brand building, but it is going to leave you more time to focus on your brand.

I just wanted to share 3 weird ways I save time (which all adds up over the long run).

Batch Emails

I only check my emails twice a day. Once in the morning (to see if there's anything urgent to attend to) and once in the evening (where I get each of my inboxes down to zero).

I don't have any notifications on my phone or laptop, so along as I check my emails in the morning to take care of anything 'pressing', I can take care of anything else later on in the day once I've taken care of more important matters

Going backwards and forward into my inbox was wasting so much time for me. And when I was in the middle of focusing on an important task, you could bet your right leg an email would come through and my curiosity would get the better of me.

I know there's an instinctual reaction we have to want to get back to people as quickly as possible. But it comes at a cost.

Being the ruler of our own time (and focus) can help us reply to emails in a respectable time frame, whilst also getting more done during the day.

Treat Yo'self

I've only recently started setting myself treats for getting certain tasks done.

This could be as extravagant as buying some new clothes (if I finish all my tasks for the week) or as small as a cookie (if I finish my accounting within an hour).

I know it seems a little exsessive, but the Parkinson Theory suggests our work expands to fill the time available.

So I figured if I make ambitious deadlines with various activities, and promise to reward myself afterwards, I would get more done in the same amount of time.

It worked for me, and I'm pretty sure everyone likes cookies, so it should work for you too.

Buy Identical Socks

This one is on the higher end of the weirdness scale.

I actually read founders like Mark Zuckerberg wear the same clothes everyday.

I'm not quite at that level yet, but I do keep my wardrobe pretty simple. It just makes getting dressed less of a decision making process.

I know some people like to dress in a certain way, and that's fine.

But if you really want to utilize your time elsewhere, think about minimising the time spent on choosing what to wear.

Sock is a great place to start.

Not to mention the time spent sorting them after washing.

Hope these time saving tips help

Not one of my regular posts, but hopefully these help you save a little time which can be spent better elsewhere.

Until next time my time saving friends.
